Painting, planting, minor repairs, and debris removal.
A big MAHALO to all who came out to help with Campus Beautification (CB). I echo Mr. Mew's comments that he posted on the school website. I drove by Niu Valley Middle School on Sunday, and as I turned into the parking lot, I was overwhelmed with a sense of pride because of all you folks accomplished and because you're a part of the Niu Valley community. The front of the campus looks great as do all the other areas on which people worked. The grounds around the Q building are wonderful. I can hardly wait to see what becomes of the C building in a few years once the plants have a chance to fill in as they've done by Q.
I was talking to Mrs. Imada, and she and I were commenting about the tremendously positive atmosphere and how great it was to watch everyone working together for the betterment of the campus. Special thanks to Mrs. Imada for all the help behind the scenes, especially coordinating all the various role groups. Thank you to others behind the scenes like the custodians, cafeteria staff, and the fine PCNC at Aina Haina, Mrs. Ako, for helping with the preparation of CB.
Thank you to the Friends of Niu Valley Middle School for your generous financial support for supplies and food for all these events. Of course a very big thank you to Mr. Kobashigawa for your leadership with this event and all the time you spend caring for the campus. It's an honor to work this event with you.
The student participation was wonderful. They were quite enthusiastic and have much to be proud of. A special thanks to the 7th grade students and their parents who have been a part of CB for a number of events now so, Mr. Kobashigawa, you'll have a well experienced crew next year - both parents and students. Thank you for the custodians for securing supplies and their help. And thank you to those who supplied water jugs and other supplies.
Thank you to all the faculty and staff who helped supervise the students. I greatly appreciate you folks getting down on your hands and knees putting in more than your share of sweat equity - painting, weeding, planting, etc. We had a good turnout in terms of workers which made your participation vital. I greatly appreciate your help directing and leading the students. Seeing you folks working with the students, made me proud that my son attends and that my daughter attended Niu Valley Middle School. I think it’s a testament to what you folks are doing at NVMS that there are students who return to help with CB.
To our wonderful community partners, Kings Catherdral and the Lions Club, thank you for all your hard work around the campus. The trees and the grounds look great. You folks always do such a wonderful job. I urge everyone to return the generous support we receive from these two organizations. For Kings Cathedral, they will be selling Christmas trees soon so please consider purchasing one from them. Also, they have community events geared toward our keiki so please be on the lookout for these events. As for the Lions' Club, please support their fundraiser when it comes around next Spring.
Again, thank you everyone for your help this weekend and your contribution to another successful Campus Beautification.
All the best and Happy Thanksgiving. Our Niu Valley community has much to be thankful for and all of you are reminders of that.
